And summer’s over, well the days of no school are over…still have the warm temps for awhile..
McKenna who at one time was my “mini-me” has grown leaps and bounds and is no longer so mini..
This summer she has been so busy traveling that it’s hard to notice unless your paying careful attention to the changes in her appearance and attitude. She is quickly becoming a full blown teenager! Ugh!
This summer she has stayed up all night and learned to sleep until someone drags her from bed. However, this morning she was up before me already wining about going to school today. Bless her heart! Times are tough. lol
As we made the five minute drive to school this morning, I asked her about her goals for this year. She of course said get “good” grades and then proceeded to tell me that she thought it was good that there were consequences in our house for grades below a B. (Although the few times I’ve had to remove electronics until grades improve she wasn’t quite that enthusiastic.)
Last night she talked about how it was her last year to be a “kid” and how she wanted to make the best of it. This morning I suggested that she not think about years ahead and concentrate on this year.
I am so proud of the young lady she is slowly becoming. Yes, we have our fair share of fights; but really, she is coming along quite nicely.
At any rate, getting dinner on the table is one of my jobs…Mckenna will be home soon. She’ll of course be starving and tired! It’s hard getting back into the swing of things.
To McKenna: I hope your last year in Junior high treats you well and that you find every moment to be the loveable, beautiful, intelligent kid that I call my own. <3 mom
